Tezuka Kunimitsu is the captain of the Seigaku tennis team, and a player to be reckoned with. He is serious and completely devoted to his team and sport. When Ryoma, a freshman, comes to their school, Tezuka acknowledges his talents and allows him to attend matches with the upper classmen to decide if he can be one of the Seigaku regulars. Once he becomes a regular, the new year of tennis begins and Tezuka is determined to get his team to the national level. With all sorts of rivalries, disputes, and even his own medical problems, Tezuka has a lot on his hands in order to fulfill his dream of Seigaku winning the national competition.
Oh my. All I can say is... I wanted to kill Airi for taunting me with Tezuka for such a loooong time. I had saved a bunch of images of him because I was really attracted to his character for whatever reason, but I did not know why. She sent me a bunch of video clips one night, and I even knew what kind of girls he liked without looking! It was fate. I have had more than one person tell me that when they first saw Tezuka, they thought of me, and I do not blame them. When I actually started watching The Prince of Tennis, I knew I was doomed. Tezuka clearly blew past all the other fictional male characters I liked and is currently sitting in the "my favorite male anime character" spot. IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT AIRI. Anyway, I really admire Tezuka's dedication to tennis and his team members and that he tries his hardest, even when he is past his physical limits. He is also really smart and can do pretty much anything (have you seen all those images of him doing different activities?) Though is may be hard to stay loyal to one male character in a series full of over a hundred of them, I have a feeling that Tezuka will not be leaving the top spot any time soon. Did I mention he is also really attractive?
