Nobodies are those that exist between light and darkness, and are those that are not supposed to exist. They are created alongside a Heartless when a person loses their heart. A group of Nobodies that have a stronger sense of self and a human form called Organization XIII is desperately working to make their own Kingdom Hearts in order to regain their hearts and therefore their former selves. Axel, number VIII, and Roxas, number XIII are both members of this organization, and have arguably the strongest relationship out of all the other members. Roxas, however, betrays Organization XIII to find why the Keyblade chose him, and is then placed in a simulated life until he is needed. Axel uses his position in the organization to try and regain his lost friend, but Roxas does not seem to remember him...
While playing through Kingdom Hearts II, a shrine to the relationship between Axel and Roxas did not jump out at me as something I had to do. I thought their friendship was sad, and I was drawn to it, but the online fandom kind of pushed me away from doing anything. After watching the cutscene between the two on the clock tower, all resistance failed and I decided to get working on a tribute to their relationship after all. I really wanted to analyze all aspects of their relationship, and maybe bring a new light to it aside from the typical "lovers" side. I personally believe the two are only good friends, but I do not disregard nor dislike the possibility they could be in love either. Their relationship has grown on me a ton since I was first introduced, and they are probably my favorite relationship in the game because there are so many possibilities and a lot to write about. I had also planned on making a shrine to Axel and Roxas individually, so it all worked out anyway.
