The day Rika became a tamer, she was battling her way through a Digimon card game tournament. She looks rather bored as she turns a card over, beating the player she is facing. Rika is announced to be the new Digimon champion while she stands on stage holding the trophy, looking just as bored and apathetic as before. The announcer asks her what she did to prepare for the tournament and she tells him with a cold and hard tone that she did nothing and that it was easy.

Rika arrives home and throws the metal down on a table next to her cards complaining about how bored she is. The doors to her room shut, and the room turns a purple and red color and becomes very dark. Rika shoots up from laying on the floor, wondering what on earth could be going on. The card reader device she has on the table glows, and three glowing screens appear before her. Shadows of Digimon appear in the screens going on about how she is the Digimon Queen. They all want her to make them Digivolve, or make them stronger. The Digimon begin to reach out and Rika backs into the wall, obviously very afraid.

"I can't tame all of you! I just want one strong Digimon!!"
The card reader glows again, and a blue card is now seen mixed in with Rika's normal cards. All the Digimon back off to the sides, and a shadow of another Digimon is seen walking towards her. The rest of the Digimon disappear, and Rika asks if the Digimon is Renamon. She replies that Rika wanted someone powerful, and all of the screens disappear. Breathing heavily, Rika says she must be dreaming and crawls over to the table with her cards on it. She picks up the blue card and swipes it through her card reader, "seeing what it's got". It glows and then changes form into her blue D-Power. Once again commenting about how she is dreaming, the D-Power glows and Rika assumes that she gets a wish.

"Well there's only one thing I really want. I wish Renamon was mine, and that I knew how to make her digivolve. I wish I was a real Digimon tamer."
Rika opens her eyes and finds Renamon in front of her. She says that she has been searching for a strong tamer and that Rika is the one she has been looking for. She looks dumbfounded at Renamon as she continues on about how it was not an accident they are a team, and if Rika shares her strength with her, they will be unstoppable. She obviously agrees, as this is her wish, and from that point on, Rika becomes a Digimon tamer.
